This small home lives very large,” says architect Peter Cadoux of one of his projects. “Composed of many architectural details suggestive of both the historic character of Compo Beach, this home is thoughtfully detailed throughout with a nautical flair.” For example, consider the sea-loving design considerations in this Shingle Style Bungalow’s “attic”: varnished natural wood boards along interior walls and ceiling, built-in bunk beds, a juice bar adjacent to the open deck and a gorgeous cupola that illuminates the space with natural light. Even the arched doorway to the deck feels like a ship. “I believe strongly that architecture relates to lifestyle. The use of open floor plans, balconies, upper roof decks, bunk rooms, high ceilings, and extensive use of glass along the first floor terrace merges both the interior and exterior of the house as a single architectural package,” Cadoux says.
