Family-Friendly Things to Do in Greenwich CT This Weekend

No. 1 Family Day in Greenwich

Breakfast at The Bruce Café: The delicious hot chocolate, English muffin sandwiches and croissants are all crowd pleasers.
Open Tuesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–4p.m.

Bruce Museum: Spend the morning exploring the newest exhibit, Ants: Tiny Creatures, Big Lives. This
exhibit brings visitors eye to eye with nature’s minuscule and marvelous super-insects. Did you know that for every person on earth, there are 2.5 million ants?

Children are invited to use a giant slot machine-like spinner to select heads, midsections and rear sections to create their own ant species, choosing adaptations like leaf-slicing mandibles, protective spines or venomous stingers to help their ant survive different environments.

Lunch at Meli-Melo: Warm up with a warm delicious soup. Our favorite is the French Onion, followed by a dessert crêpe, of course.

The Audubon: Enjoy a winter hike along diverse wetlands and forest habitats. With 686 acres and seven nature sanctuaries, the Audubon is a great way to explore the outdoors.

No. 2 Family Day in Cos Cob

Greenwich Botanical Center: Get your nature fix. From nature walks to gardening workshops, there’s something here for everyone.

Make Modern: Check out this bright and fun crafting and sewing studio that offers weekly classes for kids and adults.

Lunch at Slate Café: Serving up the best coffee, bites and kids menu, Slate makes for the perfect pit-stop during a day full of activities.

Cos Cob Library: Have you visited the new Cos Cob Library, with nearly 600 square feet of additional space for children and young adults? The freshly renovated library is open and upgraded. With expanded areas for kids, teens and adults and a brand-new community room, there’s more space than ever to read, learn and connect.

No. 3 Family Day in Old Greenwich

Breakfast at Sweet Pea’s Baking Company: Enjoy small-batch baked goods and the best coffee in OG.

Athena Book Store: Cozy up with a book in the kids’ corner, or peruse the newest book releases towards the front. We also love to grab a few of the kids’ activity kits for at-home fun.

Back 40 Mercantile: Shop a uniquely curated collection of high-quality products sourced from small purveyors who create products that we can all feel good about. The brands are organic, sustainable and local when possible.

Lunch at Siren: Inspired by the lifestyle of the Mediterranean, where eating good food and savoring life are the norm. Siren Restobar is a place to gather with family and dive into a variety of tapas.

RPM: Kids can get their energy out at RPM’s bowling alley, arcade, full-service restaurant, virtual reality simulators and go-karts, located nearby off of exit 6 in Stamford. There are hundreds of vintage arcade favorites, plus lots of prizes you’ll actually want to take home.

Every month Layla Lisiewski, Greenwich mom of four and founder of Greenwich Moms and its parent company, The Local Moms Network, shares some of her favorite things to do—from seasonal activities to can’t-miss events.
