For the Love of Food

Last week Stamford's Bedford Street was foodie central for forty-seven hungry Dishcrawl participants. In case you didn't know, Dishcrawl is like a pub crawl but with food! Tickets are purchased online and destinations are kept a secret. The day before the event an email is sent out telling everyone where to meet. For this event, we met at Quattro Pazzi. We had a private room upstairs set up with round tables and open seating.

The lively group was very diverse; young adult to middle age, singles, couples, families and from all walks of life–from Jonah the energy trader to Marion the librarian. It was a great opportunity to meet interesting people purely based on a love for food.

The dishes were prepared in advanced and everyone was served at the same time. Once the meal concluded our next destination was announced. We visited a total of four locations and were served ten different dishes.

Here's a rundown of our night:

Quattro Pazzi

  • Red beet and arugula salad with goat cheese
  • Prince Edward mussels
  • Porcini pappardelle with mushrooms (my personal fave and this is coming from someone who doesn't like mushrooms)

Maddy's Food Truck

  • Bacon, avocado, and tomato grilled cheese
  • Crispy pork, plantain, and spicy pickled cabbage (on the spicy side and everyone was raving about it)
  • Crispy conch with a spicy tartare sauce

Bar Rosso

  • Bruschetta with fresh tomatoes, garlic oil, and fresh basil (perfection)
  • Veal meatballs in a tomato sauce with grated parmigiano cheese
  • Eggplant caponata

Volta Gelateria Creperia

  • Gelato (in one word: heaven)

Our Dishcrawl Ambassador Susie Swirbul did an amazing job of keeping the evening organized and timely. In all the evening was an enjoyable way to try out some of Stamford's celebrated cuisine.
