A revolution of sorts happened in Westport. If you missed it, that's OK; it all happened quietly and without much fuss. And yet the changes are big and quite meaningful to the town: Three of its most vital institutions—Westport Arts Center, Westport/Weston YMCA and Westport Library—took on new leadership this summer. Bill Harmer was recruited from Michigan to become the executive director at the library; Pat Riemersma traveled from Minnesota to step in as CEO of the Westport Y. Cindy Armijo becomes the new executive director at the arts center.
The Y headlined local papers over the last year, as it moved from its position at the top of Main Street to build a new facility at its new location, Mahackeno. The library and arts center, however, are still eyeing plans for an overhaul of their properties. Perhaps now is the time?
Welcome events are bound to be announced for the fall, but head online to westportmag.com for our interviews with the three new leaders.
