Trombone Shorty, takes the stage in his only Connecticut performance at Bridgeport’s The Klein in the Fairfield Theatre Company’s program Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue: For True.
He wrote/co-wrote all of the tracks on the new album, For True, including a collaboration with Lamont Dozier on “Encore.” Having just toured Europe, the musicians are now touring stateside. The historic Klein is a prize setting to groove to Trombone Shorty’s amazing vocals, trumpet, trombone, drums, piano and bass. A gifted musician with an intoxicating blend of funk, hiphop, jazz, and rock, Andrews was nurtured in the birthplace of New Orleans jazz—Tremé. He also plays himself—a young musical genius—in the HBO series Tremé, about post-Katrina New Orleans. Andrews has played with Jeff Beck, Kid Rock, Warren Haynes, Lenny Kravitz, Ivan and Cyril Neville, among others. Sway and swagger seekers—this one’s for you.
