Ladies Work

Need to get fit, restyle your hair, refresh your wardrobe, and find a cool T-shirt for your tween? The women opening shops in this center have it all.

Bianca Boutique
Owner: Maria Casabianca
This fashion boutique moved over from Saugatuck and opened its door just this past January. Inside, you’ll find a tightly edited selection of jeans, sweaters, dresses, and accessories (jewelry to belts). We love the chandeliers hanging in the dressing rooms and the clean, open studio feel—utterly uncluttered to help you really see the gorgeous fashions. “You don’t have to walk into a huge store to get good clothes,” says Maria. “Someone who wants help pulling together a whole outfit can get that kind of attention here.” Indeed, from Goddis wrap sweaters to crisp Black Orchid jeans, it would be a snap to pull together a new look. 203-557-4590; shopbiancaboutique.com

Groove
Co-owners: Corri Neckritz and Erin Berk

Calling all hip parents! Groove is here to outfit your little ones (babies to tweens) in all the lines you have trouble finding. This new shop has tons of options, from casual to dressy, plus, accessories. These co-owners draw on their experiences as moms to stock the store with what parents need—for example, right now the shop has goodies for camp. From gifts to seasonal essentials, you’ll find it a breeze to spy something you love. 203-557-8111

The Waxing Spot
Co-owners: Rosemary and Veri

The first in the shopping center, The Waxing Spot anchors the far right-hand of the shopping center. It’s private and quiet here, so guests can relax and know they’ll be taken care of by pros. Eyebrows, underarms, maybe a Brazilian? And, men, how about that back hair? With some thirty years in the field, this mother-daughter team know what you need. 203-228-5118; ctwaxing.com

Artistic Image Salon & Blow Dry Bar
Owner: Patricia Gurnari

After eighteen years in Norwalk, Artistic Image made a big change—like finally cutting long hair into an edgy pixie (not that you have to cut your hair). In fact, a big part of the business is blow outs. It’s part salon, part blow-dry bar. The sleek blow out station—glossy white with funky lime-colored accents. It’s a cool vibe. Bright and cheerful, it’s easy to pass the time here; plus, you leave with a new look. Check out the big selection of MoroccanOil products. 203-846-4803

Westport Pilates Studio
Owner: Cait Lyddy

This gem of a studio is going to make sure you do a good routine. First, it’s too small to hide. Second, the space is used well—mats, equipment, various props, and a wall unit with bars, handles, springs and straps. And, third, you choose one-on-one, duet (two people), and small-group instruction—the focus is on you. Clean, dedicated, and properly serious, this studio reflecting qualities that draw people to practice Pilates in the first place. The result? You’ll work on flexibility, core strength, lengthening, coordination, breathing, and good posture. 203-227-7969; westportpilates.com

HypnoBirthing® of Connecticut
Co-owners. HypnoBirthing uses breathing, visualization and self-hypnosis to counter the fear and pain associated with childbirth. This center offers childbirth education to help pregnant women and their partners create a relaxed environment for natural childbirth. 203-952-7299; hypnobirthingct.com

Plus one more!
We can’t officially report on the last deal until the ink has dried on the contract, but we hear it’s a well-known eyeglass shop. We’ll just have to wait a bit longer before we can tell you more. Trust us, we’ll keep an eye on things and give you the scoop as soon as we can.
