Let’s Get Social

Before smart phones, apps and other digital distractions, there was a thing called socializing face-to-face, person-to-person—friendly exchanges that are far too often forgone in this hyper-technology-based day and age. If you’re one of those people in desperate need of a good, old-fashioned interactive night out, Stamford is the place to be! Here are five activities around town that are sure to get you on your feet, spark your mind, and have you talking, laughing and maybe even singing out loud.

Test Your Knowledge

Round up as many friends as possible, think of a clever team name and head on over to one of Stamford’s popular bar trivia nights. Every Tuesday night at 8 PM, Tigin Irish Pub hosts the Brainstormer Pub Quiz, which covers topics ranging from pop culture to history, current events and sports. The game is free to play and has tons of special offers, as well as chances to win pub cash or prizes.  Trivia opportunities continue on Wednesday nights from 8-11 PM at Coalhouse Pizza, where an endless menu of specialty beer and delicious pies accompany an evening of challenging questions. “Bar Rated Trivia” on Wednesdays at Harbor Point’s World of Beer is another way to put your knowledge to the test, offering gift cards and other free perks to the top trivia savvy teams.

Break Out the Boots

If you love country, boots and dancing, then make your way down to Bar-BQ, Stamford’s only line dancing destination. Whether you are an old pro or have never line danced before, this night out is sure to get you off your feet and learning those steps in no time with a little help from the bar’s instructor. Once you get the rhythm down, and maybe have a few more beers, chances are you’ll be doing the two-step all the way home! Drink specials and dancing run every Thursday from 8-10 PM.

Laugh Out Loud

For those of you looking for a laugh-out-loud kind of night, consider Palace Theatre’s list of upcoming events. It is very likely that comedy will be on tap, from highly popular acts like well-known comedian Jay Leno to talented improv groups, such as Chicago City Limits. This New York City-based comedic ensemble directly feeds off the audience to run the show, and is currently scheduled to return to the stage on Friday, May 6 at 8 PM. Paint Night

Wine, painting and good company—all the essentials for a perfect girls’ night out.  At Harbor Point’s Pinot’s Palette, prepare to be amazed by your artistic ability while following the step-by-step guidance of trained local artists. Feel free to bring your favorite snacks to accompany the fully stocked bar, and remember…the more wine, the better! Release all your inhibitions and let that paintbrush lead the way to a successful night in every sense of the word.

Belt It Out

Don’t hold back any longer. It’s time to get up there, grab that mic and get loud with your favorite classic hits. Every week, head over to Casey’s Tavern for some “Sunday Funday” karaoke, and enjoy drink specials all night long. Additional opportunities to sing your heart out with friends, coworkers and significant others are available at The Brickhouse Bar & Grill, as well as McFadden’s, with the bar’s recent launch of its brand new Thursday night karaoke.

So don’t just sit there! Get out and enjoy all that Stamford has to offer, while making a new friend or two along the way.
