Light the Night at Harbor Point

A glimmering radiance of strength and hope will set the night aglow at Harbor Point’s Commons Park for the Fairfield County “Light the Night” Walk, where approximately 1,000 people are expected to take steps towards ending blood cancer.  Organized to benefit the studies and services of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the annual event brings fundraising teams of co-workers, families and friends together as one, illuminating a path of remembrance for those lost, and paving a way of faith for the future. The Connecticut Westchester Hudson Valley Chapter will host Fairfield County’s portion of the fundraiser, which is set to take place on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 5 PM.

This year’s Walk will honor Pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) survivor Ryan Costa of Sandy Hook, CT, as well as survivor Anna Port of Danbury, CT, who was diagnosed with the same disease as Costa at the age of four. Illuminated lanterns—white for survivors like Ryan and Anna, red for supporters, and gold for those walking in memory of loved ones lost to blood cancer, will be held by all participants during the twilight stroll. The evening’s events will also include live entertainment, family activities and fireworks.

“It’s been a pleasure getting to know everyone in this community as we’ve looked to grow our Fairfield County Walk,” said Fairfield County’s Light the Night Walk Campaign Manager Tanya Popolizio. “We are very excited to be having the Walk at Harbor Point’s Commons Park, especially in a city like Stamford where there is so much growth and energy.”
