Local Rescue Pups Star in Puppy Bowl

Five rescued puppies now living in Fairfield County will be staring in Animal Planet’s 11th annual Puppy Bowl.  These puppies are part of a group of 16 puppies from Florida Little Dog Rescue to be featured  — the largest representation from a single rescue in Puppy Bowl.

The Puppy Bowl, airing Sun. Feb. 1, at 3 p.m. on Animal Planet before the Super Bowl, drafts puppies from rescue organizations from across the country. These FC puppies found adoptive families with the assistance of locally owned Dog Gone Smart. All puppy players from Florida Little Dog Rescue were rescued from their local county animal shelters, or as part of neglect cases.

Once drafted for Puppy Bowl XI, the 16 puppies and five Florida Little Dog Rescue Volunteers made the trip to NYC for the big game, but the puppies still needed a place to stay during filming.  Florida Little Dog Rescue was assisted by Dog Gone Smart of Norwalk, CT with the pups, as staying in a NYC hotel during filming with 16 puppies was not really an option for the rescue.

Dog Gone Smart was able to help eight of the puppies to find adoptive families during their week-long stay.
