Lord & Taylor today announced its full plans to create an updated and modern shopping experience for its Stamford, CT store, one of the company’s earliest branch locations. The store remains open to shoppers throughout the duration of the renovation project, which is scheduled to be completed later this year.

“Since 1969, Lord & Taylor Stamford has been a destination within Fairfield County and an important location for our company, and I am excited to update the shopping experience for today’s customer,” said Liz Rodbell, President, Lord & Taylor and Hudson’s Bay. “This renovation will deliver a sensational shopping experience that the community can enjoy for many years to come.”

The renovation, to be completed in two phases, will touch all three levels of the store. When the project is complete—expected by November—the store will have a more intuitive flow, new finishes, and upgraded services.

Phase one was completed in late 2015 and revealed full renovations to the lower and upper levels. Both floors received upgrades to flooring, lighting, and fitting rooms. On the lower level, the men’s department, including activewear, was refreshed and reorganized to welcome several new brands: J Brand, Vince, MPG, New Balance, 2(x)ist, Timberland, and more. Additional new brands will arrive this fall, including Marmot, Spyder, and Selected Homme, among others.

The women’s department (sizes to 22W/3X) was expanded and relocated from the lower level to the upper level to join the dresses department, which nearly doubled in size. Dresses now commands more than 8,000 square feet, and recently introduced new brands including Karl Lagerfeld Paris, Tommy Hilfiger, and Vera Wang. New brands in women’s (sizes to 22W/3X) include Melissa McCarthy, Juna Rose, Moda Mix, Marc Performance, and Nic+Zoe. Also on the upper level, ladies’ activewear has been enlarged to accommodate an increase in demand, and has welcomed new brands including New Balance, MPG, Nanette Lepore, and Betsy Johnson.

Phase two is currently ongoing and is focusing on the store’s main floor. There, ladies’ shoes, cosmetics and jewelry will be expanded, allowing each department to welcome new brands. Shoes will expand by more than 5,000 square feet to 14,600 square feet; cosmetics will increase to more than 10,000 square feet; and jewelry will nearly double to 4,500 square feet.

New brands added to the main floor include Giorgio Armani Beauty, blowpro, and Tory Burch Fragrances in cosmetics; Kendall + Kylie, M73, Zac Zac Posen, and Louise et Cie in handbags; Loeffler Randall, Sigerson Morrison, and Under Armour in ladies’ shoes; plus, Kendall + Kylie, DVF, Vince, J Brand, and Velvet in contemporary.

Also part of phase two is a refresh to The Signature Café at Lord & Taylor on the upper level.
