Are you sick of doing the same thing every weekend? Break out of your winter stupor and explore all that Stamford has to offer this month. From music to art to food, there are tons of events to attend and places to discover. So instead of staying in or going to another disappointing movie, paint the town red. Here’s a look at what’s happening in Stamford for the month of April:
Uptown Showdown at the Palace Theater
Named the "Best Comedy Show" by New York Magazine, Uptown Showdown is coming to Stamford’s Palace Theater on April 17th, 8 p.m. Sit back and watch two teams stacked with well-known comedians—including writers from The Daily Show, The Onion, and The Moth—go head-to-head in a “heated” debate about pop culture topics. You never know what famous faces might show up. Previous debaters have included Michael Ian Black, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Showalter and Jackie Hoffman. 61 Atlantic St, Stamford, (203) 325-4466
Verde Vegetarian Food Rave at Bank Street
Foodies rejoice! On April 26 from 3-6 p.m., Three360 Events is putting on Connecticut’s first ever vegetarian food rave. For just five dollars, attendees will get to taste delicious vegetarian cuisine from more than 15 restaurants and vendors. Don’t expect the typical vegetarian fare, however, as these chefs are bringing bold flavors to the table. When you’re done eating and drinking, dance off calories by busting some moves with a live and local DJ who will be on hand. 65 Bank St, Stamford, (203) 325-2739
A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Palace Theater
You don’t have to travel to the city to see a great ballet. The Connecticut Ballet is presenting A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Stamford’s Palace Theater on April 18th and 19th. Director Brett Raphael's production puts new life into this Shakespearian classic that’s filled with lovers’ quarrels and mystical creatures. Suitable for all ages, this two-act ballet will bring you back to a much grander time. 61 Atlantic St, Stamford, (203) 325-4466
See the Stars at the Stamford Museum
Spend your Friday nights gazing at the stars at the Stamford Museum’s Observatory. Learn about the night sky, planets and stars during the Constellations Across Cultures presentation, followed by a visit the Observatory's 22-inch research telescope to view the beautiful night sky. Bring the kids or make it a date night. 39 Scofieldtown Rd, Stamford, (203) 322-1646
Ditch your boring weekend routine and opt for something different, whether it’s sharing laughs with friends and the Palace Theater or star gazing at the Stamford Museum. Here’s to a good time!
