Spend the Season With Loved Ones

During the holidays, we all like to take some extra time out of our busy schedules to catch up with friends and family.

We've rounded up a list of the top places to go to spend time with your loved ones.

The college age groups enjoy gathering at…

The Colony Grill, 1520 Post road, which offers a classic American hub, large television screens, one of a kind thin crust pizza — with or without their signature hot oil, cocktails and multiple beer on tap. Open seven days a week.

The Field Irish Bar and Restaurant, 3001 Fairfield Avenue, is also a hot spot for the younger crowd. They offer Monday night football specials including Touchdown Steak dinners for $10, Pitchers of beer for $7, $3 pizza and more. Two for one drink specials are held each Tuesday from 9-11pm as a DJ keeps the tunes pumping and Hump Day Wednesday night ‘wine down’ offers $3 red/white house wines by the glass and $3 pizza and drafts.

The Sea Grape Café, 1144 Reef Road is a favorite hangout for the college students. It serves a full menu of simple and hearty dishes, has televisions, a nautical décor and dart boards adding to this laid back casual haunts atmosphere. The bar serves two for one drink specials and $2 Buds during Happy Hour, Monday to Friday from 3 – 8pm.

On Date Night

55 Degrees Wine Bar & Restaurant, has live music each Friday and Saturday night from 10:30pm – 1:30am and was designed to be a place where people could enjoy delicious Mediterranean Cuisine, an extensive list of affordable wines and a full bar. Don’t forget to bring your dancing shoes!

Pizzeria Molto Mozzarella and Wine Bar, 1215 Post Road, boasts a 40-foot Carrera marble bar, which gives it that chic NYC style dining atmosphere. Plus, choose from a delectable selection of Italian food and an adventurous wine list. Enjoy their tapas while watching 1950’s classic Italian movies on the big screen.

The 30's crowd celebrates Date Night at…

The Artisan, 275 Old Post Road, Southport, was designed to embody the rich New England culture of its local customers. The Scandinavian theme blends classic, modern, rustic, and femininity in a way that makes you feel welcome and at home. Take your pick of where to sit, as this restaurant is divided into a casual tavern style room, a more formal dining room, a private dining room which can seat up to ten, and a lively bar. Enjoy meals by Chef Kieffer who promotes sustainable agriculture through seasonally inspired interpretations of classic New England farm to table dishes.

The Gray Goose, 246 Old Post Road also in Southport, doesn’t disappoint. With its romantic cozy atmosphere, rustic barn siding décor, and two fireplaces, it just exudes charm. The delicious meals include little plates or main plate entrées, sandwiches, burgers, fresh farm grown salads and yummy desserts. Be sure to try a Grey Goose Signature Cocktail, Martini or Mojito. Sunday Brunch is a must — enjoy Lobster Eggs Benedict, the Smoked Salmon Platter or the stuffed Brioche French Toast.

Martel Bistro & Bar, 2316 Post Road, offers ‘a casual, fun, lively, stylish atmosphere.’ Bonus points for their Buck-a-Shuck ($1 each oyster!) and clam and shrimp specials Sunday to Friday, 4 — 6pm.

For family-style…

Centro Ristorante and Bar, 1435 Post Road, offers Italian food that is a favorite among locals. This cozy, colorful, lively restaurant offers fresh house made pastas, nightly specials, a kids menu, high chairs, delectable desserts and more. Each table comes complete with breadsticks, candle light, paper table cloths and jars of crayons — sure to delight both the young and old budding artists.

Joe’s American Bar & Grill, 750 Post Road, is a neighborhood staple for traditional American Cuisine. Joe’s focuses on using the freshest ingredients while providing a casual family atmosphere. Be sure to take advantage of their ‘call ahead seating’ and request a table by the fireplace.

Or, keep it neutral…

Try one of the two Starbucks locations downtown — 1740 Post Road or in the Fairfield University Bookstore located at 1499 Post Road.

Enjoy catching up!
