The Studio at Mack & Ro set to open next month

Left to Right: Lauren Daley, Jessica Sokol & Jen Scully

The Studio at Mack & Ro will feature original works by Jen Scully, a locally-loved artist known for her abstract paintings, whimsical maps and watercolor portraits.

The Studio will serve as a local hub for emerging art, design and business by hosting artist workshops, pop-ups and panels for the community. The space will also be available to rent for private events, which will further expose art to a wider audience.

“Art has always been an integral part of my life,” said Scully, whose creative process is largely influenced by her coastal New England roots and surroundings. “Having a dedicated studio and gallery space has always been a dream of mine.”

Having grown up in Maine, Scully finds inspiration in the sights, sounds, smells and textures of the beach. This translates into her work through bright and neutral colors, as well as texture, by layering and scraping paint to create a raw seaside vibe. She rarely uses a paint brush — her primary tools are palette knives and rollers.

Scully is one of the three talented local Black Rock moms supporting this new venture. Together with Scully, Lauren Daley and Jessica Sokol bring years of experience in the arts, retail, business and event planning. What began as a friendship through shared adventures in motherhood, has grown into a passion for supporting business development in their own backyard — and the burgeoning art scene in Fairfield County.

“We plan to support the community and give back wherever we see an opportunity,” added Daley and Sokol, the former owner at Saltwater, an award-winning boutique in downtown Fairfield. “We would love to work with Black Rock School to bring art to Bridgeport classrooms, culminating in an annual art show for students at The Studio.”

The Studio at Mack & Ro will publicly open its doors on March 15, 2019 at 3002 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06605, next to Match Taco and Lachers Hair By Demand.
