A Colorful Nature

From dainty necklaces studded with vibrant stones to playful bracelets of pink candy jade, the pieces created by Pomeline Jewelry are awash in color. “I have always been drawn to vivid, happy colors and textures, like a country cottage garden in full bloom,” says Greenwich-based Kirsten Rothe, who’s been designing jewelry for 25 years and founded Pomeline in 2012 to the delight of stylish women in Fairfield County and beyond. She draws from her years growing up in the original carriage house of Greenwich’s Khakum Wood Estate surrounded by English-style gardens and summers in Denmark by vivid yellow fields to craft gold vermeil and sterling silver stunners that showcase freshwater pearls and precious and semi-precious stones. Browsing her online store, you’ll find her contemporary spins on classic designs separated into six themed collections, with each piece elevating everything from casual jeans and a t-shirt to cocktail dresses, all without breaking the bank. We chatted with Kirsten about her inspiration for each of her six collections, which you can shop now to infuse a breath of spring into your looks.

The Bee Collection

The Charlotte pink candy jade bracelet with 14k gold vermeil plated cube and bee toggle closure

What’s the buzz with this collection? From trellis bangles to necklaces with strands of rich Lapis Lazuli and Baroque pearls, you’ll find a tiny bee sweetening each piece with a touch of whimsy. “I love my bee. I love its personality. My bee has attitude,” Kirsten says. “I wanted my bee to have a simple silhouette to compliment the colors of the semi-precious stones, not overpower them. I can’t think of a bee without thinking of a bed of colorful flowers.”

The Leaf Collection

The 14k gold vermeil plated Double Row Leaf Cuff

Like the first leaves sprouting in spring, the pieces in this collection are a serene addition to any outfit. “I have always been fascinated by leaves because of the simplicity of their shape, yet detailed design,” Kirsten says. “To me, the leaf is nature’s jewelry.  From the optimistic light green color of spring, to the vibrant colors of autumn, leaves represent nature’s ever-changing beauty.

The Petite Pomeline Collection

The Aurora bracelet with freshwater pearls and dark pink druzy heart charm.

The little ones need some sparkle, too! “I created Petite Pomeline after searching, to no avail, for a real piece of age-appropriate jewelry for my goddaughter, without having to spend a fortune,” Kirsten says. “I wanted something she could wear throughout her childhood and save as a keepsake from me.” With playful charms like flowers and ribbons, these bracelets and necklaces also boast the rich colors of Pomeline’s other lines.

The Cube Collection

Kirsten Danish heritage inspires this collection, with its clean, angular elegance and mix of metals. “The more I worked with the cube, the more I wanted it to be a collection that could stand on its own,” she says. “The contrast of the metals, stones, gold and pearls makes this collection a little edgy, while still maintaining a classic style.

The Hellebore Collection

The Juni wrap necklace with Peruvian opals, pastel Baroque pearls and gold vermeil plated Hellebore flower.

The Hellebore blooms with a multitude of colors, sometimes even in the same flower. Yet Kirsten finds a more personal connection to the flower. “The Hellebore, also known as the Winter Rose, was my grandmother’s favorite flower,” she says. “Growing up, we always had Hellebores in the garden in honor of her.” Find the bloom brightening strands of aqua chalcedony or standing alone as dainty earrings and more. “The best part of the Hellebore is that it blooms in the winter,” Kirsten continues. How can you not love the resilience of something that dares to bloom in the bleakest conditions? It gives us color and hope of brighter times ahead.”

The Confetti Collection

Confetti is usually reserved for a party and with Kirsten’s latest collection, you can add the excitement and color of a celebration to every look. “It represents my love of color, plain and simple,” she says. “I wanted it to evoke the childhood excitement of walking into a party with bouquets of balloons, colorful cupcakes and blooms, all on a table sprinkled with confetti.”
