A Historical Landmark

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will better serve our community thanks to a $20,000 grant for educational and cultural programs from the Xerox Foundation as the foundation renewed its commitment to the museum this year. Xerox believes in corporate responsibility and that a successful corporation must be an active participant in society.

“We are very grateful to the Xerox Foundation for its support, which has doubled since 2010,” says Susan Gilgore, executive director at Lockwood-Mathews Mansion. “It is because of enlightened and generous corporate leaders such as Xerox that we can continue to present programs to our community that tell powerful stories of our heritage and the American experience.”

Board chairman Patsy Brescia says that, thanks to the grant, the museum will be able to enhance visitors’ cultural and educational experience and give greater access to students who want to learn about the history and architecture of this National Historic Landmark.

Xerox Foundation’s President, Dr. Joseph Cahalan says, “We’re thrilled to partner with Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum. The museum provides a marvelous window through which visitors of all ages can view an important part of our history and heritage. There is nothing quite like seeing the faces of young students as they soak up what the museum has to offer.”

During the season, full tours at the Museum are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for children and young adults ages eight to eightee. Children under eight are admitted free. Tour hours are 12 to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Tours are on the hour, and the last tour starts at 3 p.m.
