A New Greenwich Gallery Blends Art, Home Décor and NYC Style

A breath of visual fresh air has arrived in downtown Greenwich. Bringing a bilevel gallery with New York City vibes to town, Suzanne Bellehumeur has created a colorful space with evolving art collections and specialty items for the home. A decorative artist and muralist with 30 years of experience, whose work includes projects for David Yurman’s Manhattan storefront, Macy’s on 34th Street and many projects for designers and architects, Suzanne turned her own talent toward transforming the shop into an immersive boutique experience.

“The main floor has glorious 11-foot ceilings that allowed me to paint a variety of chinoiserie and abstract murals,” she says. “Wall murals blend seamlessly with the art hung on them as well as the carefully curated decorative home objects. No other home décor gallery space looks or feels like this. The lower gallery is the unexpected surprise…(like) a secret destination. Everyone has the same response when they reach the bottom of the stairs: ‘Oh wow!” It’s truly unique.’” The gallery showcases a range of works, from pop art and luminous landscapes to photography and more.

As art enthusiasts browse the collections, they can also pick up decorative items. Suzanne is especially partial to Designers Guild pillows and throws, and accessories from Arteriors, which she carries. “I’ve always loved how new art, pillows and throws can quickly transform a room,” she says. “You can have a neutral palette in your home, but these elements can easily be switched out and change the trajectory of the space immediately.”

In addition to hosting numerous events in the gallery space and planning upcoming exhibitions, Suzanne is also introducing a commissioned-art division geared toward local homeowners and designers. “So many homeowners and designers have large walls to address that need art,” she explains. “I provide a collaborative service designing a custom painting based on the client’s likes, the overall design aesthetic of the room and my personal suggestions. It’s a seamless process of brainstorming, renderings and a digital version of what the painting can look like on the wall prior to committing to it.”
