Arianna Huffington to Headline Center for HOPE Luncheon

The Center for HOPE will welcome Huffington Post founder and editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington as she takes to the podium as the speaker for its 2014 Annual Luncheon on Wednesday, April 23. The event will be held at 11 a.m. at the Woodway Country Club in Darien.

Huffington is best known as the founder and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post – one of the Internet’s most widely-read, linked to and cited news sources. She is also a nationally-syndicated columnist and author of 14 books. Huffington was named one of Forbes’ Most Influential Women of 2013 and has appeared on the Time 100 list twice. The Huffington Post was also awarded the winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for national journalism.

After years of working around the clock, Huffington collapsed in 2007 due to exhaustion and lack of sleep. Left with a broken cheekbone and a serious eye injury, Huffington used the accident as a wake-up call that forced her to re-evaluate the true measure of success.

In her new book, THRIVE: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder, Huffington draws on her experiences as a thought leader and working mother-of-two to outline a definition of success that focuses on the importance of professional and personal balance.

The 2014 Center for HOPE Luncheon is co-chaired by Jan Dilenscheider of Darien, Louise Vanderlip of Greenwich and Terri Walker of Rowayton. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Center for HOPE and The Den for Grieving Kids, Family Centers’ programs offering counseling and support to residents of lower Fairfield County coping with a loss, a critical illness or life-altering circumstance.

Tickets start at $125, and all attendees will receive a copy Huffington’s new book. Several exciting sponsorship opportunities – which include a semi-private reception with Huffington – are also available. For information and tickets, visit www.familycenters.org or call 203-869-4848.
