Brazilian Tennis Pro Guilherme Zotin Gomes de Oliveira Brings World-Class Talent to Wilton’s Junior Tennis Scene

At the crossroads of an increasingly connected world, the recognition and abilities of athletes across the globe have skyrocketed, creating more advanced ways of networking and getting the world to know your name.

This is certainly the case for Guilherme Zotin Gomes de Oliveira, (also known as Gui) a tennis extraordinaire who has played all across the world and is now employed at Wilton’s Four Seasons Racquet Club as the Associate Director of their Junior Program.

Born in Campinas, Brazil, de Oliveira’s mother inspired him to learn tennis at just five years old. After years of playing and training, he was ranked #1 in the Brazil U12, a great accomplishment.

His early tennis successes, however, did not stop there. He traveled to Europe to play tennis in the U14 and U16 age groups, eventually reaching number #742 in the International Tennis Federation’s junior’s ranking.

In 2021, he was invited to the United States to play division two tennis at the University of Mount Olive on scholarship.

In his collegiate career, de Oliveira played for four seasons with great success, earning numerous accolades including the 2021 Conference Carolinas MVP and Regular Season Champion. As Team Captain from 2022 to 2024, he earned First-Team All-Conference honors in 2023 and 2024, along with a spot on the 2023 All-Tournament Team. Ranked #24 nationally in doubles (2023) and #47 (2024), he also achieved a #19 regional singles ranking in 2024. A six-time Conference Carolinas Player of the Week and 2024 Scholar Athlete of the Year, he has consistently excelled both academically and athletically.

For the last two years, in-between sessions of school and during summers, Gui had worked at Shore and Country Club in Norwalk as a Tennis Professional, reforming the tennis program after previous managerial concerns at the club

In 2024, Gui graduated Mount Olive with a bachelors in Finance and a minor in Accounting. Soon after, he came back to Connecticut and began working in Wilton as a tennis instructor under Four Season’s junior development program. Under the supervision of Four Seasons Coach Mike Slattery, the duo have transformed the program.

Gui has played a key role in helping 15 junior players secure positions on their high school tennis teams in the Fairfield County area, coaching athletes between the ages of 10 and 17 who compete in USTA-sanctioned tournaments, and working on both technical and tactical development tailored to tournament-level athletes.

So, what is next for Gui?

He wants continued growth and evolution of the junior tennis program, in partnership with Mike Slattery, as they work together to build on his legacy of excellence in player development.

Gui is also committed to developing junior athletes into NCAA Division I college players, and positively impacting young athletes’ lives both on and off the court, while fostering personal growth, discipline, and character. He is dedicated to creating a culture of hard work, respect, and accountability, and plans to build an environment that supports players’ technical development and competitive goals.

Ultimately, Gui intends to become a long-term leader and mentor in the Fairfield County tennis community, making a lasting contribution to the sport’s future in the region.
