Greenwich is getting a new grocery destination.
DeCicco & Sons will officially open its first Connecticut location on Wednesday, September 9, bringing the family-owned grocer to the former Stop & Shop space at 21 Glenville Street.

The approximately 20,000-square-foot market marks DeCicco & Sons’ first expansion outside New York and brings a full-service supermarket back to Glenville following the closure of Stop & Shop.
“We have been looking forward to becoming part of the Greenwich community for a long time, and we are incredibly excited to finally open our doors,” says John DeCicco Jr., CEO of DeCicco & Sons. “Glenville felt like a natural fit for us. It’s a close-knit community that values quality, local businesses and personal service.”
So, what can Greenwich shoppers expect?
The new market will feature fresh produce and deli departments, premium natural meats, seafood delivered daily, fresh sushi, a full-service bakery, locally roasted coffee, a juice bar and chopped salad station, plus an extensive cheese selection and global assortment of craft beers.

Prepared foods – a hallmark of DeCicco & Sons’ markets – will also be a major focus, with hot food and salad bars, the grocer’s Signature Series offerings and plenty of store-made salads, sides, dinners and grab-and-go options.
The space itself has been designed with Greenwich in mind, incorporating nods to the town’s history throughout the market. The store will also include energy-efficient refrigeration, lighting, solar and other sustainability measures used across DeCicco & Sons’ newer locations.
Beyond groceries, the family plans to become involved in the local community through its school rebate program, which allows customers to support participating local schools through their everyday shopping. Catering and event services will also be available.
“For more than 50 years, our family has believed that a neighborhood market should be more than just a place to shop,” says Chris DeCicco, partner at DeCicco & Sons. “We want to know our customers, support the schools and organizations that matter to them, and be a good neighbor.”

The Greenwich store opens at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, with an official ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m.
Founded by a family with roots in the grocery business dating back to 1973, DeCicco & Sons currently operates 11 markets throughout Westchester and Putnam counties. Greenwich will be its 12th location – and its first on this side of the New York-Connecticut border.
