Founded in 2016, Destination Haus is the collective artistic expression of the Vellante family, a mother-daughter-daughter trio of artists, designers, and curators. Their newest store at 56 Riverside Avenue in Westport is a home décor dreamscape. Imagine walking into a space expertly curated with unique pieces from around the world…an eclectic mash-up both personal and intimate. The first time I saw the store, I had tears in my eyes…it is design perfection.

From mother Laureen’s gorgeous coastal photography, which hangs in homes across the East Coast, to daughter Kendra’s décor finds from around the world, to daughter Carlyn’s art curation and art consulting services, Destination Haus is an immersive retail-adventure like no other.

In 2018, in Montauk, NY, the Vellante women expanded their business into the event planning space. Inspired by the beachside landscape, they set out to meld their vision of global style with the environment to create customized dining experiences. By incorporating the elements, exquisite textiles, and one-of-a-kind tabletop, they turn every occasion into a highly stylized celebration. The attention to detail is impeccable. From the perfect flowers to the serveware and lighting, the beautiful atmosphere they decorate is all-encompassing.

Their event service is now available in Fairfield County. From intimate dinners at your home to large scale events like weddings, their fully customizable events will delight your guests and transport them to the any destination you desire.

Additionally, this winter they are hosting a ticketed dinner series at their Westport store in partnership with local chefs such as Daniel Kim from Ten Homakase. The design of each dinner will be inspired by their travels, with the goal of exposing you to the sights, sounds and tastes of exotic destinations. Why go to dinner at the same restaurant every night when you can dine in Morocco one night and in Italy the next? The dinners combine the Vellantes’ love of creative direction, collaboration, food, and design, culminating in a sensory and culinary experience you won’t soon forget.

The in-store dinners only accommodate 20-30 guests, so be sure to follow their Instagram @destination.haus and/or sign up for their newsletter on their website destinationhaus.com for details. Tickets will be available for purchase on their website two weeks prior to each event and are first-come, first-served.

They can’t wait to host you!
