In the spring of 2007, Elizabeth Peluso Lefebvre met Christopher Martin Cleary, known as Chris. After spending hours talking, they made plans to have dinner the following night. At the restaurant, the owner invited all dining there that evening to join him in a celebratory birthday drink. One of the patrons asked the name of the drink, to which the owner replied, “It’s called a wedding cake!” Chris jokingly said to Elizabeth, “No pressure.” In October 2009, the couple was playing paddle tennis at Burning Tree Country Club. Following a hard fought match, Chris proposed on bended knee. Father Stephen DeLuca officiated at the ceremony at St. Catherine of Siena Church, and a reception followed at Burning Tree.
The bride, daughter of the late Albert and Carol Lefebvre of Greenwich, graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of Richmond. She received her master’s degree in curriculum design and instruction from Fairfield University. Elizabeth is a financial planner with Lefebvre Financial Services in Stamford.
The groom, the son of Mary Ellen and Timothy Cleary of Milton, Massachusetts, graduated from Noble & Greenough School and Boston College. He is a retired professional soccer player. Chris is a recruiter in corporate accounting and finance with Jonathan Marks & Associates in New York. He is also a youth soccer coach with the Greenwich Soccer Association and an assistant to the boys’ varsity team at Greenwich High School.
The Greenwich newlyweds spent their honeymoon in St. Martin.
