Father and Son

Pulitzer Prize winner John Darnton will be visiting Fairfield University’s bookstore on April 17th from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm to sign copies of his latest book Almost A Family: A Memoir. For forty years, Mr. Darnton worked as a reporter, editor and foreign correspondent for the New York Times. A known author, Mr. Darnton has written five novels including the Darwin Conspiracy and the best seller Neanderthal. His impressive background includes the recipient of two George Polk Awards.

His latest masterpiece, Almost a Family is a deeply personal and beautifully crafted memoir, which pays homage to his lifelong chase after his father’s shadow. As explained in the book, Mr. Darnton was never able to meet his father who lost his life off the coast of New Guinea in World War II. This painfully honest narrative provides great insight into relationship between an estranged father and son.

The event will be sponsored by the MFA in Creative Writing program and is free and open to the public.
