Grammy Award Winning Pianist Garrick Ohlsson in Stamford

The Stamford Symphony presents Grammy award winning pianist, Garrick Ohlsson for an exclusive recital on Saturday January 31 at 8pm. The Garrick Ohlsson Recital will take place at Stamford’s Palace Theatre. His program is inspired by the 100th anniversary of the death of Alexander Scriabin where he will be performing a selection of works by the composer that bridged the romantic and modern eras. He will be also be performing works by Scriabin’s Russian counterparts, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff.

In continuation with our partnership with The HARTT School of Music, three outstanding piano students from the HARTT School have been chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in a master class with Garrick Ohlsson the day prior to his recital. The piano students will each choose a piece of music to perform and will receive a 40 minute personal coaching session. In addition, the students will also be able to sit in on the sessions of their peers. “This is a rare opportunity for music students to be coached by a pianist of this caliber and is an experience they will always remember” – Barbara Soroca, CEO and President, Stamford Symphony
