The Young Women’s League of New Canaan will kick off the Holiday season by holding its 17th annual Holiday Market on November 19 and November 20 at Waveny House. Attracting hundreds of shoppers, the event is a New Canaan tradition and one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the league’s charitable grant program.
“The Holiday Market has been a favorite fundraiser for the YWL’s membership and has consistently raised half the annual grant
amount needed to support our recipient charities,” Amy Fields, YWL President said. “We are proud to be a destination for holiday shoppers and are grateful for the support from our participating sponsors, vendors, attendees and the town. It’s a great opportunity to shop for a good cause.”
Top-tier sponsors of the event are New Country Porsche of Greenwich, Halstead Property & the Sneddon Team and Stamford Hospital as well as media partner, Moffly Media.
Many favorite vendors will be returning this year along with an exciting new selection. Highlights include The Pink Mink, Just Over the Top (JOTT), Moe’s Monkeys, Sail to Sable and Shell Stories.
New this year, the YWL will have a silent auction during the Preview Party including golf outings at Winged Foot and Fishers Island, a night out on Broadway and an overnight stay at a private, luxury apartment in New York City. A “stocking stuffer bonanza” selling New Canaan business gift cards from local merchants including Aetheria Spa, G. Albert, Le Boudoir and South End is also new. Other participating New Canaan merchants include M Milestones, NC Olive Oil, Candy Nichols and Candy Scoop.
“Feedback from the community is overwhelmingly positive as attendees get a leg up on their holiday shopping,” according to Co-Chair Kendall Sneddon, “it is a great event for the community, our local vendors and our grant recipients.”
The two day affair kicks off with the Preview Party on Wednesday, November 19 from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. and sells out quickly. The $55 ($65 day of) cost of admission includes a “Taste of New Canaan” featuring local restaurant specialties, cocktails, entertainment and first dibs on merchandise!
The event continues with market day on Thursday November 20 from 9 – 4 p.m. In addition to an exciting selection of vendors’ items on sale, breakfast will be provided by Zumbachs and Baldanza Natural Market Café. Tony’s Deli is providing a lunch selection. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the door.
Net proceeds from the event will go to the YWL grant program benefiting local nonprofit organizations that embody the YWL 2014-2015 giving theme “Strong Women Make Strong Communities.” All vendors donate a portion of their proceeds.
