Above: Kristin and her bridesmaids
Although Kristin and Richard first met as lifeguards at the Fairfield Beach Club in 2001, it wasn’t until Kristin moved to New York City in 2010 that they started dating. Three and a half years later, Ricky proposed one day when Kristin returned home from work, although she maintains that she “knew something was up.”
The ceremony, which took place at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield, was presided over by Father James Bevacqua. The bride wore a Monique Lhuillier gown and her grandmother’s bridal veil. The couple made their exit to “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen and headed over to their reception at the Woodway Beach Club. The celebration was inspired by the town of Fairfield itself and guests were seated at tables named for local roads.
Kristin is the daughter of Beth and John Mengel of Southport. She is an alumna of Providence College, where she earned her degree in marketing. She works at the marketing firm WPP in New York. Ricky, son of Dolores and Richard Ryan of Black Rock, attended the University of Richmond, earning his degree in business administration. He is a director of capital introductions at Societe Generale, also in New York.
The couple honeymooned in St. Maarten and Nantucket, Massachusetts, before returning to their residence in Manhattan.
