Fate is a funny thing. Just ask Maureen and Philip. Although their older sisters are childhood best friends, and Maureen’s brother was on the same soccer team as Phil, the couple didn’t meet until a mutual friend’s wedding at the Burr Mansion.
That fortunate meeting blossomed into a romance. Years later, under the guise of buying a wreath for his grandmother from the Burr Mansion Christmas Tree Festival, Phil took Maureen back to the spot where they first met and asked her to marry him.
Reverend Margaret Hodgkins officiated at the wedding ceremony at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport. A reception followed at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk.
Daughter of Mary Ellen and Jerry Keough, Maureen attended Fairfield High School and received a degree in marketing from LaSalle University. She earned a masters in elementary education and teaches in Darien.
The groom, son of Helene and Stephen Epifano, attended Fairfield High School before graduating from the University of Colorado-Denver with a degree in communications. He works as a project manager for Triax in Norwalk. His family has lived in Fairfield for twelve generations, that last six of which have been spent in the Jonathan Sturges House.
The couple honeymooned in London and Vienna before returning to their home in Southport.
