Darien’s A Better Chance (ABC) Co-Chair Susan Wilson and her husband John, recently hosted a reception and house tour of the new ABC house at 103 Tokeneke Road in Darien. The purpose was to introduce friends of ABC to the wonderful opportunity the house offers to the program and the talented students it supports. The new house will enable the program to increase the number of students each year from six to eight.
A friend of ABC and the ABC Board of Directors donated the money to purchase the house. With the need to build a small addition for the Resident Directors and their two young children, connect to the town sewer and provide adequate bathrooms and kitchen facilities for up to eight young women, ABC is launching a capital campaign to raise $500,000.
Darien’s ABC is a non-profit organization that selects highly motivated and academically talented young women of color to receive four-year educational scholarships to Darien High School. They live in the ABC House as a family with two Resident Directors and spend one weekend a month with Host Families in the community.
