Shout Out
Congratulations to Michelle Luhtala of New Canaan High School, who was one of only ten school librarians in the country to receive a national award from the American Library Association for her inspiring service. Luhtala was selected from 1,700 nominees for her “arms-open attitude toward change.” Through social media and online course management software, Luhtala and her team have enhanced group collaboration and communication schoolwide.
Green Scene
Nielsen’s Florist in Darien put on a proper shindig recently to celebrate its win as the Retail Florist of the Year, an award cosponsored by the Wholesale Florist & Florist Supplier Association and Florists’ Review magazine. The green thumbs at this Post Road location were commended for community involvement and the ability to adapt to the changing times.
Fit for a Cause
Kudos to Infinity Fitness in Darien for opening its Saturday morning bootcamp class to nonmembers who are asked to donate a minimum of five dollars for a world-class workout. The gym funnels the contributions to charitable programs around the community. For information go to infinityfitnessgym.com
