Pretty Picture

Tamara Palumbo, cocreator of the Piret & Tamara cosmetics line, and makeup artist at Warren Tricomi in Greenwich, spends many of her weekends making her beautiful brides glow. Here she shares her dos and don’ts for getting your wedding face picture perfect.

  • Do wear individual false lashes strategically placed to enhance your natural lash line for a flirty, wide-eyed appeal.
  • Don’t wear a full set of false lashes. You won’t get the natural lash look you want.
  • Do book your initial consultation a year in advance if possible, but preferably after you’ve purchased your dress.
  • Do bring your favorite cosmetics to your consultation to see if they can be incorporated into your wedding look. But be open to the possibility that your favorite hues might not be the most flattering choices.
  • Do look romantic with rosy pink cheeks and lips; neutral eye shadow, black eyeliner on the top lash line only (think Brigitte Bardot) and those carefully placed false lashes.
  • Don’t transform yourself so much that your groom doesn’t recognize you as you walk down the aisle. “You should feel pretty but comfortable on your wedding day. Clean, fresh and glowing should be the desired effect.”
  • Don’t pay too much attention to editorial makeup trends when planning your big day. “A great wedding look should be timeless.”
