Sara, known to friends as Sally, and Adam were set up by Sally’s uncle Andy Hunter, who along with his wife has successfully matched five couples, including Sally’s parents. After two years of dating, Adam proposed to Sally in Sea Island, Georgia, where the couple has spent many holidays and where Adam has vacationed since childhood. Reverend Jim Lemler officiated at the ceremony at Christ Church in Greenwich and the reception followed at Round Hill Club in a clear-top tent with a twelve-piece band.
For the rehearsal, the bride wore the same dress that her great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and aunt wore at their weddings. The gown, made by Charles Worth in the early 1900s in Paris, was tailored to a more modern style for its fifth debut.
The bride, daughter of K.C. and Molly King of Greenwich, graduated from St. Mark’s School, Brown University and received her master’s in art history from Columbia University. Sally works for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The groom, son of Tim and Marcia McBride of Washington, D.C., graduated from Landon School and Georgetown University. Adam is a financial analysis manager for Federal Street Partners in Stamford.
The McBrides honeymooned in Australia and Fiji. They call Manhattan home.
