The Loft Artists Association (LAA) annual holiday show and boutique starts today, with an opening reception from 5:30-8 p.m. at 575 Pacific Street, Stamford.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Laurel House, a center for mental health recovery services.
“We hope to be able to make an even bigger donation to Laurel House this year than last,” said Ellen Gordon, president, (LAA).
You can purchase original artwork at the show, including an extensive collection of items including ceramics, clothing and fine jewelry.
President and CEO of Laurel House, Linda M. Autore is thankful. “We are grateful for LAA’s generosity in donating a percentage of their proceeds from the Holiday Show to Laurel House programs.”
The LAA is a non-profit organization; their mission is to build connections in Fairfield County through the visual arts. They foster a supportive environment and provide networking opportunities for artists.
Throughout the 23 years, the LAA has provided lectures series, held studio tours, poetry reading and theatricals. They are active within the community, providing studio tours to students and adult civic groups.
Laurel House was founded in 1984 and provides resources and opportunities for people living with mental illness to live well in their community. They yield recovery by offering workshops, employment assistance and residential and social services. Laurel House is partnering with LAA for the third year for the holiday show and boutique.
“While this financial support means a great deal to us, the most important reward for the Laurel House artists whose work is displayed is the opportunity to showcase their work in the community, in a professional art gallery venue,” said Autore.
The gallery will be open Saturdays and Sundays 1-4p.m, running until Dec. 21.
