Siri Scanlon & Alexander Appel

Siri Myers Scanlon met Alexander Nash Appel, known as Alex, when each accompanied a close friend out for drinks in the West Village in New York. Soon after they met, they were inseparable and spent time skiing, which was Alex’s passion, and traveling in Paris, which was Siri’s favorite city. Two years later, the couple had planned their Christmas dinner at La Grenouille before each went off to celebrate the holidays with their families. When Siri arrived home to change for the evening, she found Alex on bended knee asking for her hand. The Very Reverend Zachary Fleetwood officiated at the ceremony held in Paris at the American Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, which was followed by dinner at Cercle de l’Union Interalliée. After a honeymoon in Mallorca, Spain, the couple held a reception at the Racquet and Tennis Club in New York. Jimmy and the Brown Sugar Girls kept guests dancing long into the night.

The bride, daughter of Belinda and James Scanlon of East Norwalk, graduated from Greenwich Academy and Georgetown University. She is an associate in Equities Sales and Trading with Goldman Sachs in Manhattan.

The groom, son of Sarah Nash Sylvester and Gary Appel, both of New York City, is also the stepson of Michael Sylvester and Sallie Krawcheck. Alex graduated from Deerfield Academy and Washington and Lee University. Mr. Appel expects to receive his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 2013.
