Trick or Treat, With an Emphasis on the Treat

By Megan Montemarano

Changing leaves and cooling breezes go hand-in-hand with pumpkin spiced lattes, aromas of cinnamon and sugary desserts. Fall is finally upon us, with Halloween right around the corner. At these recommended sweet shops in Stamford, the season is guaranteed to be full of not too many tricks, but certainly a whole lot of tasty treats.

Pilar Artisanal Chocolate

Enjoy handmade gourmet chocolates this Halloween season, now available at Pilar Artisanal Chocolates, Stamford’s newest addition to Bedford Street. The renovated store opened its doors this past August, offering an espresso bar and fresh fruit smoothies in addition to its deliciously crafted chocolates. Sit down for an afternoon treat, and be sure to grab an assortment to go. Halloween is the one time of year to indulge in candy and chocolates totally guilt-free—might as well make the most of it!

Godiva Chocolatier

Calling all chocolate lovers! What better place to stock up on that Halloween candy than at the highly praised Godiva Chocolatier? Serving decadent Belgian chocolates since 1926, this classic option, with its truffles and endless variety of assorted collections, is simply irresistible. The company’s Stamford location can be found in the Stamford Town Center, and currently offers new fall arrivals that you won’t want to miss.

DiMare Pastry Shop

Are you planning on hosting Halloween at your house this year, or perhaps another fall festivity? Whatever the occasion, DiMare Pastry Shop is here to help! With its two Stamford locations, one at Largo Drive South, and the other downtown, the beloved local business offers an array of scrumptious seasonal desserts including maple walnut and pumpkin mousse cakes, breads, pies and more, all with an autumn-flair. Be sure to also order some specialty pumpkin or leaf-shaped cookies for a purely delectable treat.

16 Handles

Beyond the usual candy bars and chocolates, “Oh My, Pumpkin Pie” is back at 16 Handles, downtown Stamford’s favorite frozen yogurt destination. Made with real pumpkin, this seasonal flavor encompasses the very essence of fall in a cup, combining the perfect blend of cinnamon, cloves, ginger and nutmeg. But it doesn’t end there; this smooth, rich choice pairs superbly with graham cracker crumbs and cheesecake bites. Other great options include caramel sauce and chopped almonds, as well as maple glazed pumpkin seeds.

So forget the trick this year, and take the treat!
