Vanessa Soraya Priou’s and Saul Robin Abrahams’ lives were intertwined from an early age, but they didn’t meet until high school. As children, they both attended Tumble Bugs and some of the same local day camps. They also had both worked at Upper Crust Bagel Shop during the same summer. The two reconnected ten years later, when Saul was living in Colorado and Vanessa was teaching at King Low Heywood Thomas School in Stamford. Thus began a long-distance relationship. When Saul decided to propose, the couple had just finished snowshoeing in Estes Park, Colorado. During a break, when Vanessa asked Saul to pass her a granola bar, he handed her an engagement ring instead and asked her to marry him. The Reverend Jon Powell, cousin of the groom, officiated at the ceremony at the Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, where a reception followed.
The bride, daughter of Fereshteh and Michel Priou of Stamford, graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of Rhode Island. She received her master’s degree in elementary education and special education from Manhattanville College. She is a teacher at Omar D. Blair Charter School in Denver.
The groom, son of Elena and Michael Abrahams of Old Greenwich, graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of Colorado in Boulder. He is a project engineer with Kiewit in Denver.
