Wilton Library Welcomes Erin Nazzaro For Art Exhibition

As the once bright autumn leaves lay crumpled on the ground, Wilton Library patrons can rejoice in a cornucopia of vibrant images and color staged within the library when Erin Nazzaro’s art exhibition, “Tweets & More,” opens with a reception on Friday, Nov. 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  The local artist who is well-known for her effervescent works has been experimenting with a quieter palette and subtle compositions, all of which will be on display in more than 80 paintings in this one-woman show.

Ms. Nazzaro, who was born and raised in Connecticut and is now living in Redding, has been in love with art as far back as she can remember.  She started with pencil which remained her only medium for many years patiently honing her craft and skills to refine her images.  To this day, drawing is the foundation of her work.  In the ʼ80s, Erin began migrating toward paint and color – a momentous time that changed her perspective on everything and gave her a new beginning.  Her work evolved with many visits to the Southwest which in turn led to travels to all the Americas. These sojourns provided her with ample stimuli leaving her head with exhilarating images of the people, their beautiful families and the land they live and work on.

According to the artist, “I appreciate all the swirling bright colors so integrated into the landscape, fabrics, dress and folk art. My work is driven by this energy. My paintings relay the beauty of the simple though very hard lives people live while presenting themselves with great honesty and dignity.”  Erin has previously exhibited at Wilton Library in a group show in 2006, and has been involved in group and solo exhibitions around the area, including the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, the Westport Art Center and the Silvermine Art Center. She also has exhibited in galleries in New York, New Mexico and Mexico.  She is a member of the Silvermine Art Center, Westport Art Center, New Canaan Art Society, Ridgefield Guild of Artists and Kent Art Association.

The exhibition runs through Friday, November 28. The majority of the works will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. In support of Wilton Library, Erin has selected several paintings of which 100% of the proceeds will go to the library.
