Dr. Inna Lazar, founder of Pro Eyecare in Greenwich and Darien
When Dr. Inna Lazar emigrated to the United States from Ukraine as a teenager, she was struck by how differently vision care is practiced. Back home, access to advanced technology and specialized eye care was limited. In America, she saw what was possible. “It wasn’t just about seeing better,” she says. “It was about living better.”
That early observation shaped her career. Today, Lazar is the the founder of Pro Eyecare, with practices in Greenwich and Darien. Recognized as one of Newsweek’s America’s Best Eye Doctors, she has built a reputation for comprehensive, diagnostically rigorous eye care that goes well beyond the routine exam.
“When patients come to me, especially after seeing multiple providers without clear answers, they’re not looking for a routine exam,” she says. “They’re looking
for clarity.”
That philosophy extends into territory most eye doctors don’t touch: the aging skin and soft tissue around the eye. It’s a common concern, as women notice drooping and a tired look—and hesitate to go straight to surgery.
Lazar says that hesitation is well-founded. “A drooping lid may be structural laxity, but it can also be chronic inflammation, meibomian gland disease, muscle overuse from focusing or compensation from dry eye,” she explains. “Most treatments in the market treat appearance only, not cause.”
At Pro Eyecare, every patient begins with a functional evaluation before any aesthetic conversation. Lazar evaluates tear film chemistry, blinking patterns, eyelid position and ocular surface integrity to understand what’s driving the change. In her experience, many concerns that seem cosmetic—puffiness, heaviness, shadowing—are rooted in underlying dysfunction. Treat the physiology first, she says, and the appearance often improves.
When structure remains the issue, that’s where Sofwave comes in. Lazar recently introduced the ultrasound-based treatment to her practice. It delivers controlled energy to the support layer beneath the skin, where collagen weakens over time. The surface remains intact—no ablation, no pigment disruption, no downtime. Instead, the body rebuilds structure gradually and naturally.
“The goal isn’t changing someone’s face,” Lazar says. “It’s restoring structural support so the eye looks rested again.”
What makes Sofwave particularly suited for the eye is its precision. Unlike radiofrequency or laser treatments, ultrasound targets a defined depth—meaning the treatment targets the surrounding tissue while the eyeball and its delicate structures remain fully protected throughout the procedure. And because Lazar’s practice is an eye-care practice, her team brings a level of anatomical expertise to the treatment that most aesthetic providers simply don’t have. “We are formally trained to work around the eye and understand its anatomy, function, and delicate structures in depth,” she says. “Patients feel reassured because their care is delivered in a true eye-care environment.”
Treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes, and results develop gradually over eight to 12 weeks as collagen rebuilds—subtle, structural and natural-looking.
The ideal candidates are either patients who want to get ahead of visible changes before they progress or those noticing early laxity who aren’t ready for surgical intervention. “By restoring tissue support early, we can significantly delay the need for surgery while maintaining both function and aesthetics,” Lazar says. “The key is timing.”
For anyone curious but uncertain, her first recommendation is simply to come in and learn. A consultation at Pro Eyecare is diagnostic and educational—no pressure, no procedures. “Our role is not to persuade someone into a treatment,” she says. “It is to provide clarity and options so they can make an informed decision about their eyes with confidence.”
