Ali and Matt are a modern couple who met in a very modern way: on Hinge. Their first date was for drinks at Holywater in Tribeca, where Ali was living at the time, while Matt called the West Village home. It was one of those effortlessly fun evenings where conversation flowed easily. They quickly discovered how much they had in common. They were the same age, both Jewish, shared mutual friends from Duke and Lehigh, and, most importantly, held the same core values.
After a year of dating, Matt planned a surprise proposal during a staycation in New York City. On the way to dinner, he suggested they stop by The Wall Street Hotel to drop off their bags. As soon as they entered the lobby, Ali sensed something was different. Staff members took her coat, handed Matt a key and escorted them to a beautifully decorated suite filled with flowers. Before she could fully take it all in, Matt got down on one knee and proposed. The celebration continued as family and friends joined them for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before heading downstairs for dinner.
Rabbi David Spey officiated at the ceremony at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida, where a reception followed.
The bride, daughter of Dr. Jed and Terri Kaminetsky, graduated from Hackley School and Lehigh University. She is the founder and CEO of Modern Picnic, a luxury lunchbox brand.
The groom, son of Brian and Joan Ochs of Maryland, graduated from Winston Churchill High School and Duke University. He works for Coller Capital in Manhattan.
Following their wedding, the newlyweds honeymooned in Capri, Ravello and along the Amalfi Coast.
They call Manhattan home.
