John, who goes by Casey, and Emilie first met when he moved to Chicago from San Francisco. Emilie had been living in Chicago for a few years and met Casey through a mutual friend, Peter Kearney (Peter would later serve as an usher in their wedding). After four years of dating, Casey proposed to Emilie during a quiet Friday night at home in Brooklyn. The ring was designed using a diamond that once belonged to Casey’s great-grandmother.
Reverend Terrence Elsberry officiated the ceremony in the garden at The City Club in Wilmington, North Carolina, where the reception followed.
The bride, daughter of James and Elizabeth Kuhn of West Hartford, graduated from Suffield Academy and Denison University. Emilie is a preschool teacher at Mandell School in New York City.
The groom, son of John and Joan Roach of Greenwich, graduated from Greenwich High School and St. Lawrence University. Casey is a municipal bond trader for Wunderlich Securities in New York City.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Costa Rica and call Brooklyn home.
