Cameron August Schmitz had just finished graduate school and was embarking on a month-long artist residency at the Vermont Studio Center when she met Jonathan William Sessions, a staff artist there. By the end of the month, the two had fallen in love. Four years later, the couple took a scenic walk at one of their favorite spots, Kingsland Bay on Lake Champlain, where Jon, as the groom is known, got down on one knee and proposed. Minister Emily Melcher of the Champlain Valley Unitarian Universalist Society officiated at the ceremony held at Grand Isle Lake House in Grand Isle, Vermont. A reception followed.
The bride, daughter of Jonathan and Karen Schmitz of Stamford, graduated from Greenwich High School and the University of New Hampshire. She received her M.F.A. from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Cameron is a visual artist and gallery associate at C. Schmitz Fine Art and Edgewater Gallery in Brattleboro, Vermont.
The groom, son of the Honorable William K. and Abigail Sessions of Cornwall, Vermont, graduated from Middlebury Union High School and Kenyon College. He received his master’s degree in special education from the University of Vermont. Jon is a special educator with Oak Grove Elementary School in Brattleboro, Vermont.
The Vermont newlyweds spent their honeymoon in the Riviera Maya, Mexico.
