In 2011 and 2013, Stamford resident Scott Hamilton organized and led medical missions to impoverished and remote areas of Nepal, a part of the world that is particularly hard hit with vision problems and blindness. While there, a team of renowned ophthalmologists treated villagers for glaucoma, performed cataract surgery and conducted eye exams (giving away donated eyeglasses to those who needed them), all while simultaneously teaching locals how perform basic procedures. In this video from the 2013 expedition, photographer and videographer Daniel Byers shows us the great good the team performed, as told from villagers who benefitted from their kindness, time and expertise. You can also read Scott Hamilton’s story in the latest issue of Stamford Magazine.
