College freshmen Alisen Boyd Stearns, known as Ali, and Adam Timothy Steffens met during orientation. Their instant friendship led them to realize they were meant to be together. The day before Ali’s thirtieth birthday, the couple headed to Greenwich Point to walk along the shore. Adam proposed overlooking Long Island Sound. The Reverend William Carey, who had also married the bride’s parents in 1975, officiated at the ceremony at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Cousin of the bride Frank Benvenuto provided the music for the service. A reception followed at the C. V. Rich Mansion in White Plains, New York.
The bride, daughter of Janice and Steven Stearns of Riverside, graduated from Greenwich High School and Adelphi University. She received a master’s degree in leadership and strategic management from Manhattanville College. Alisen is a credit analyst with Hitachi Capital America in Norwalk.
The groom, son of the late Betty-Ann and Thomas Steffens formerly of the Bronx, New York, graduated from Bronxville High School and Adelphi University. Adam is an underwriter at Facultative ReSources in Stamford.
Following a honeymoon in Bora Bora and Moorea, the couple returned home to Greenwich.
