Bright Night

The tenth annual Galaxy of Stars gala broke its own record for attendance and for funds raised in a single night to support Star Inc., a nonprofit organization that serves infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities. More than 200 guests helped the group raise in excess of $270,000 for the agency’s programs and services, and they had a dazzling night at the Woodway Country Club. There was dinner, dancing and a live and silent auction that included two VIP fantasy baseball packages, a Tuscany villa family vacation, a red carpet package for the 2012 Emmy Awards and a South African photo safari.

The gala committee chairpersons were Rob and Meghan Cioffi of New Canaan, Mary Ferrara and John Masanotti of Darien, and Joseph and Nella Viesta of Stamford. Star President Ken Harrington-Howes hosted the evening, along with Katie Banzhaf, the executive director, and auctioneer Kathy Kingston. Proceeds will be used to support Star’s programs and services.

The gala also celebrates the community of individuals with developmental disabilities leading full, productive and rewarding lives filled with friendships, loving family relationships, employment and volunteer work.
