One could say that when Carroll Gilmore Shaw and Stephen Matthew Ratpojanakul met, they were seeing double. Both are identical twins and met through their respective twin siblings. They quickly found out that their attraction was much deeper. Two years later, Stephen secretly gathered both of their families the night before Thanksgiving at their favorite restaurant in Manhattan, Uva, and proposed on bended knee. The Reverend Dr. James B. Lemler officiated at the ceremony at Christ Church. A reception followed at the Belle Haven Club during Hurricane Irene, which served as a rallying point to heighten the spirits of the guests.
The bride, daughter of Tobey and William “Skip” Shaw of Greenwich, graduated from Colgate University and received her master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Manhattanville College. Carroll is a teacher at the Episcopal School in New York City.
The groom, son of Michele Desautels of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Surus Ratpojanakul of Silver Spring, Maryland, is a graduate of Middlebury College. He is an optimization manager with Adobe Systems in New York.
Following a honeymoon in Hawaii, the couple returned home to Manhattan
