Christine Frieda Messineo and Matthew Tennant Shattuck

That festive week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, when happiness is in the air, is when Christine Messineo met Matthew Shattuck. The pair were introduced through mutual friends at the movies. And a Hollywood romance began when the two rang in the New Year together. After two years of dating, Matthew and Christine talked about getting married, but it wasn’t until a round of toasts during Matthew’s surprise birthday party that the idea of spending the rest of their lives together was too exciting to keep secret. Matthew made the impromptu announcement that he and Christine were getting married.

The couple was officially married at the Manhattan Marriage Bureau. Days later, David R. Holmes, the groom’s uncle, led a ceremony including vows and selections of poetry and literature at Hacienda Temozón, a hotel in Temozón Sur, Mexico.

The bride, daughter of Frank and Carol Messineo of Park Slope, Brooklyn, graduated from Miss Porter’s School and Syracuse University. Christine is the director and artist liaison at the Bortolami Gallery in New York City.

The groom, son of Jim and Carol Shattuck of Riverside, graduated from Greenwich High School and Duke University. Matthew is a producer for Dissident Industries in New York City.

The newlyweds reside in Manhattan.
