No. 1 ranked Darien Blue Wave, with a undefeated 12-0 season, and No. 2 ranked New Canaan Rams, with a 11-1 record, will compete against one another for the CIAC Class L Large football championship on Saturday, December 13th at Ken Strong Stadium in West Haven. Darien breezed through their semifinals challenger, Naugatuck, in a 42-12 win while New Canaan took down previously undefeated Wethersfield in a 27-14 battle.
The Blue Wave and Ram rivalry has only heightened since the two competed for the FCIAC title on Thanksgiving. That time, Darien's football team took home the "W" after climbing back from a 21-point deficit and winning in overtime 28-21.
Trumbull's No. 2 ranked St. Josepth Cadet's, with a 10-2 record, have also made it to the CIAC championships. Competing in the Class M Small final on Saturday against No. 1 ranked and unbeaten Ledyard at Willowbrook Park in New Britian. The Cadet's made their way to the final after demolishing previously No. 2 ranked Ellington/Somers in a 55-6 semifinal match up.
Saturday should make for a great day of high school football and regardless who wins, a FCIAC team will be crowned the CIAC state champions!
