Since they rolled out the welcome mat on their Pimlico home design boutique in New Canaan in 2001, and started offering design services nine years ago, Melissa Lindsay and Jill Saunders have been bringing their enviable high-design to homes around Fairfield County. Pimlico Polish, their latest design tier, tackles the problem of smaller projects.
“We saw a need among people who don’t want to redo the whole house; they just want to put the finishing touches on a room or update what they have,” Sanders says. Clients might have already purchased the room staples—sofas, coffee tables and more—but the space doesn’t feel lived in, or truly them yet. Enter the service that will make just the right additions so a room feels more cohesive, personal and finished.
Saunders also notices a trend among clients with traditional homes; they want to flirt with a more modern style, but they’re unsure how and where to start. Pimlico Polish will bring in the sleek touches, and breathe new life into spaces with paint color, accessories and more. “You can have something that’s really tailored to you on a smaller scale,” she says. As with the store’s full interior service— Pimlico Interiors, led by Lindsay—expect expertise on the latest style trends, no matter how small the project. 48 Elm St., New Canaan, pimlicohome.com

MIRROR, MIRROR
“Adding an oversized mirror to a space is the perfect way to open up the room. Try this in the living area or the bedroom.”

ACCESSORIES, PLEASE
“Accessories add depth with different materials. One of my favorite things to add to a room is a sculptural object on a book stack.”

LIGHT FANTASTIC
“New lamps make a big impact. Try a pair with glass or marble elements, if you want to bring a more modern touch to a room.”
