Flower Power

The right flowers have the power to transform a tired reception hall into a magnificent blooming garden. These talented and knowledgeable florists will guide brides and grooms in your flower selection and impress you with their stunning designs. These designers are not interested in hijacking your wedding. They love to take the bride and groom's vision and turn it into a blossoming reality.

Dirt owner and floral designer, Ann Robertson, dreams up gorgeous floral arrangements of high quality flowers with her bright, fresh and modern design sense. Ann does more than just the floral arrangements. She likes design all the aspects of the table-scape. "When I first started out I wasn't getting involved the room design", but after delivering her flowers one time and they didn't compliment the linens that were being used, Ann learned her lesson. The process for designing the centerpiece is "very different from how the bouquet needs to go with the dress. On the tabletop you're thinking about the china, linens, votives, colors and textures " to create a stunning overall effect.

What sets Ann apart is her love of design and lifelong love of flower arranging, which keeps her interested and creative. Ann cultivated her talent while earning her degree from Parson's School of Design in New York City. Her retail flower shop, Dirt, is run like a Dutch flower market. The flowers are not banished to floral coolers, but instead are out for the customers to touch and smell as they are choosing their flowers. She creates arrangements for events big and small. Sometimes it's a centerpiece for a Thanksgiving dinner or flowers for someone's home; but her favorite event to work on is a wedding. "It's fun to work with brides. It's such a happy time. I love getting to know the couple and having my work reflect the couple's vision."

When planning your wedding flowers, you will meet with Ann personally so that she may get to know you and your vision. She'll give you a detailed proposal including flowers, containers, linens and lighting to sketch out the overall look to her clients' delight.

Lead time is about 1 year for large events because Ann likes to give the bride and groom time to think about their party and how they want it to look. But don't panic if your event is sooner. Ann has created gorgeous centerpieces and bouquets with only 2 weeks notice, too.

Springdale Florist

What sets Springdale Florists apart is Tom's desire to set the bride and groom at ease through his calm manor and gorgeous floral designs. Tom works hard to showcase the couples preferences because the flowers should be "a reflection of their taste not mine."

When planning your wedding flowers, you will meet with Tom to show him your photos of flowers, colors, textures that you like to help him envision your perfect flowers. He always reassures his clients that they are not making any final decisions in the first appointment. Tom likes meet with both bride and groom to see how they look together. "It's a quick way to determine the bride's bouquet size. If the groom is really tall and the bride is short, and you give her a huge bouquet she's just going to look smaller." Tom crafts his flowers with the goal of helping the bridal party look their best. Tom provides 2-3 proposals like a "shopping list" for the client. Then Tom asks the bride to come in the day before the wedding to look at her flowers, a practice his father started. This way if she wants to make any changes it can easily be done and then there's no worries on the wedding day. Tom does not want his clients stressing out about floral details on their big day.

Lead time is preferably 2 to 3 months.

If there's a mishap with the flowers—once a flower girl threw her bouquet in a pond before the ceremony—I can get to them quickly to deliver a new bouquet."
