Despite growing up in Westport and attending the same high school, Jacqueline Elaine Horelik and Charles Clark Kelakos Haberstroh did not know each other. It was not until they were visiting a mutual friend at Lehigh University that they were introduced. After graduating from college, Jacque and Charles went on their first date to Dunville’s Restaurant in Westport. The rest is history.
The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Dr. Ellis at The Village Chapel in Pinehurst, North Carolina. A lively reception followed at the Pinehurst Members Club, where a bagpiper ushered in the bride and groom as guests gathered on the patio and cheered. During the reception Charles and his friend Ryan O’Neill joined the wedding band to sing the Peter Gabriel song “In Your Eyes” to Jacque.
The bride is the daughter of Janet and Daniel Horelik of Westport. She is a graduate of Staples High School and received her bachelor’s degree in human development family studies from the University of Connecticut. She also holds a master’s degree in elementary education from Sacred Heart University and is a teacher at Eagle Hill in Southport.
Charles, the son of Patricia and Charles W. K. Haberstroh of Westport, graduated from Staples High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Fairfield University. He is the vice president of Castlekeep Investment Advisors, located in Fairfield.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico, before returning home to Fairfield.
