Neither Jane Elizabeth Prasse nor Paul Eric Roitsch, known as Eric, believed in love at first sight… and then they saw each other. The two had been taking the same yoga class at the Greenwich Water Club, but had not mustered the courage to talk to one another until the instructor caught Eric ogling Jane. The silence of the studio being shattered by “Eric head down!” provided the icebreaker needed. The couple was engaged six months later, when Eric popped the question on the beach in Rhode Island at sunset.
The Reverend Jason Pankau officiated at the ceremony at North Greenwich Congregational Church. U.S. Army soldiers conducted a traditional saber-arch ceremony as the bride and groom left the church.
A reception followed at Indian Harbor Yacht Club.
The bride, daughter of Earl and Marcia Prasse of Wellington, Illinois, graduated from Butler University, received her master’s degree at Ohio State University and will complete her executive M.B.A. degree next spring. She is currently the supervisor of Rehabilitation Therapy at Stamford Hospital and the Van Munching Rehabilitation Center.
The groom, an Army Green Beret, is the son of Phyllis Roitsch of Greenwich and the late Paul Roitsch. He is a graduate of Greenwich High School, Auburn University and received his M.B.A. from Troy State University. A veteran of Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia, Major Roitsch
is studying at the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
The couple spent their honeymoon on the Aegean coast of Turkey and Istanbul before returning home to Greenwich.
