Just Dance

The name calls to mind the Stevie Nicks/Don Henley song “Leather and Lace,” but Glitter & Grime isn’t about rock ‘n’ roll, it’s all about dance. The dancewear store on the corner of Post Road and Ruane Street sells ballet tutus, leotards, and dance shoes, and offers private fittings for perhaps the most important component of a dancer’s wardrobe: the pointe shoe.

Flash Pointe Dance studio is in the same building at 1657 Post. It celebrated its fifth anniversary in Fairfield recently by offering a master class taught by a choreographer from the hit NBC series Smash. The store’s clientele aren’t just dancers from Flash Pointe and other area dance schools, they are also Fairfield shoppers who want new workout wear. Manager Allie Forsythe says the hot seller right now is the “bumwrap,” for “women who don’t want to show off their bums when they’re wearing tight workout pants.”
